Media Analysis

Media Language:
The first key convention is the KFC logo in the bottom-right hand corner of the advert. The slogan beside the advert which states 'Finger Lickin" Good' also tell us how tasty their food is and how you'd want to lick your fingers after. This is because kfc food is so delicious and better then there rivals McDonalds, Burger King. etc. The main title on the advert is in big bold-white letters and the word 'kick' is in a fiery red and a chilli as the I. The central image shows a meal from KFC which is advertising the 'boneless banquet' which is only £4.99 and looks good to eat. The colours on the advert is red mostly. This shows that the chicken is hot and spicy because that's what the red signifies and the sub-heading suggests. This image has be selected because it is cheap for the amount of food you get and is an appetizing meal and includes the main dishes in KFC.

Institution:
The major company behind this institution is McDonalds. This is because they are both fast food restaurants and sell similar food such as chicken, chips and burgers. KFC sell a variety of meals and bargain buckets aswell as McDonalds do. They both provide tasty food and explains why they are in competition with eachother.

Audience:
The target audience for KFC is people who love to eat chicken or food.  This is also targeted at people who like great deals and love nearly everything in KFC and targeting people who eat at their rivals such as McDonalds. The age range is wide but attracts mainly young adults aged 14-25 in my opinion. The type of people (gender) would be around 50/50% because loads of male and female love KFC. The advert will be aimed at largely lower/middle-class people, perhaps people with just ordinary, minimum wage jobs.

Representation:

The representation on this advert is exclusively chicken - which gives us a clue who our target audience is. KFC is a chicken shop which means it does not attract vegetarians. There isn't a specific type of person who eats at KFC but we know that you have to be a meat fan. There is very little things vegetarians can eat at KFC but it is concentrated on male, female and anyone who like fried chicken.
