Film Production

Nobody's fool.

Nobody's fool is a drama/crime storyline about three teenage popular girls that share a secret. One of them is in a perfect relationship with Mr. Popular at their school until...
The girls get into a huge fight involving nose bleeds, heartbreaks and broken noses. But the girl who is fighting against the two best friends is the one with the big secret- cheating. She is cheating with her boyfriends best mate so of course her ex best-friends are going to get revenge on what she has done to them. The girls current boyfriend is up to no good for he finds a way to deal with his best mate and his girlfriend.

This is related to the film 'The Other Women' because it has a similar story-line. It offers violence, explosive drama and crime which will be suitable for middle aged teenagers.

Your chosen movie

1) What film have you chosen?
I have chosen Taken.

2) Why did you choose this film in particular?
I have chosen this film because I enjoy action and crime movies and Taken is one of my favourite movies of all time.

Institutional background
Use IMDB to find out the institutions behind your chosen film. Find your film, click on Company Credits and then look for the production company and UK distributor.

1) What was the film studio or production company behind your chosen film? E.g. Warner Brothers, Paramount etc.
2) Who was the distributor for the theatrical release of the film in the UK?
The distributor for the theatrical release of the film was 20th Century Fox.

No brand loyalty

1) What genre does your chosen film fit into?
The genre of the film is action, crime and thriller.
2) How can you tell it fits that genre? Be specific with reference to the trailer.
Due to the star Liam Neeson, who is shown to be famous for actin movies. In the trailer it shows his daughter being kidnapped and a lot of guns are involved which suggests crime and action.

3) Is your chosen movie a sequel?
Yes, this movie is successful. It currently has 2 films and the third will be released in 2015. 3a) If Yes, how does the film use the original movie or franchise as part of its marketing?

 It’s a social thing

1) What was the word-of-mouth like for your chosen film? If you can’t find tweets (probably blocked) use the IMDB user review rating or the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer rating to judge whether the public have given the movie a good review.
The word of mouth was very successful there were good reviews all round it was 7.9/10 which is pretty high.

 2) Find three quotes (no more than 25 words each) from user reviews of your movie to create a picture of what the public reaction to the film has been. Post them on your blog.
It was one of those films that I wanted to applause after the film, I actually clapped about three times, but no-one joined in... too afraid of being the only two people clapping I suppose...

Neeson was great, and I can't wait to see the movie many more times. I only gave it 9 out of 10, as it was too short

I was not disappointed...

Genre:
Drama

Narrative:
The story line is clearly shown as a drama because it is a stereotype for teenagers to be trouble. It is of people (children) who cause trouble and do naughty things, things they shouldn't be doing which causes drama.

Characters:
The characters are typically British teenagers. They are from West London and naughty, disruptive people which makes the fits the film into the genre- drama.

There is plenty of iconography typical of the drama genre: trouble, murder, relationships, teenagers, crime. All of these are typical of the drama- in the connection of the narrative which we can clearly see as drama.

Setting:
The film is set in West London which shows estates, streets and school. It is said that estates are stereotypical for gangs and groups which is why this film is set in a place like this.
Genre:
Romantic-Comedy

Narrative:
The story line is clearly shown to be a group of male friends and they each have a lady. They argue and love each other which makes this a funny and romantic movie.

The characters are typically American/ Hollywood and mostly are the colour black. They're are a few comedians in the film which may also make this a comedy. The main characters show love and affection to their partners and they are all clearly close friends.

Minority Report shot-by-shot analysis

Shot 1

The medium-close up angle allows the police officer to have a conversation from the view of his shoulders-upwards. It also shows more than one person and allows to see facial expression on more than one face. The medium close up shows less background and more close up which shows you what kind of person, mood or scenery is being shot. It also shows us the Police Officer which makes us have more of an idea of what he is like and his emotions. His facial expressions show that they are determined to catch who they want to catch.

Shot 2
The wide/establishing shot angle shows us the location of where this next scene is taken place. It shows this type of background which is an alley way where they begin to build tension. It shows more background for the audience to imagine what's going to come next for e.g because they are in an alley perhaps they'll be a fight.

Shot 3

The close up shot angle shows us the characters facial expressions. His facial expression shows fierceness which implies he's ready to fight. It also shows he's in an alley way which could mean he is at a dead end. The close up shot show the emotions of the character and gives up an idea of may come next.

Bully-shots

This is a high-angle shot which makes this person look intimidating, weak and small.
This is a medium-close up
This shows his body language, his face expression and tells us in enough detail: his actions.
This is a wide establishing shot which shows the background and gives us a better picture of the scenery and what may happen in the near-by future.
This is a overhead shot which indicates that there is more than one person the the conversation.

This is a wide-establishing shot which shows that they are in school so it gives you an idea of what is going on and why they are doing this action.

Media Analysis

Media Language:
The first key convention is the KFC logo in the bottom-right hand corner of the advert. The slogan beside the advert which states 'Finger Lickin" Good' also tell us how tasty their food is and how you'd want to lick your fingers after. This is because kfc food is so delicious and better then there rivals McDonalds, Burger King. etc. The main title on the advert is in big bold-white letters and the word 'kick' is in a fiery red and a chilli as the I. The central image shows a meal from KFC which is advertising the 'boneless banquet' which is only £4.99 and looks good to eat. The colours on the advert is red mostly. This shows that the chicken is hot and spicy because that's what the red signifies and the sub-heading suggests. This image has be selected because it is cheap for the amount of food you get and is an appetizing meal and includes the main dishes in KFC.

Institution:
The major company behind this institution is McDonalds. This is because they are both fast food restaurants and sell similar food such as chicken, chips and burgers. KFC sell a variety of meals and bargain buckets aswell as McDonalds do. They both provide tasty food and explains why they are in competition with eachother.

Audience:
The target audience for KFC is people who love to eat chicken or food.  This is also targeted at people who like great deals and love nearly everything in KFC and targeting people who eat at their rivals such as McDonalds. The age range is wide but attracts mainly young adults aged 14-25 in my opinion. The type of people (gender) would be around 50/50% because loads of male and female love KFC. The advert will be aimed at largely lower/middle-class people, perhaps people with just ordinary, minimum wage jobs.

Representation:

The representation on this advert is exclusively chicken - which gives us a clue who our target audience is. KFC is a chicken shop which means it does not attract vegetarians. There isn't a specific type of person who eats at KFC but we know that you have to be a meat fan. There is very little things vegetarians can eat at KFC but it is concentrated on male, female and anyone who like fried chicken.

Media Debates

"My Facebook friends are the same as my real friends."

I disagree with the statement ahead because Facebook is way communicating, finding and making new friends. So, nearly half the people who are your friends online aren't your real friends.
Facebook helps you search, like and look at peoples profiles and share your life in pictures and 'what's on your mind' with other people in all different places and backgrounds. This also has a location to know where your friends are at and what they do. It also shares their interests and likes.

  • The channel logo

  • A YouTube trailer advertising a show on the channel

3) The target audience
If you can’t find the official target audience for the programme, make an educated guess based on the rest of your research. Remember: % gender, age range, social class, level of education, job/earnings etc.

Because BBC News is only available to watch in the United Kingdom only a quarter of a Billon people watch it everyday. I generally think more men watch BBC News then women. I'd also say more older people would watch the news because they have more of an understanding of what's going on in the world. I'd say very little teenagers would watch the news but it i think it would range from 35-65. I would say middle/upper class would watch the news regardless of their education and how much they earn.

4) The running order for three separate editions of the programme. Watch at least 20 minutes of the programme on THREE separate days and write down the following:

  • The news stories that appeared
Weather
Notting Hill Carnival: girl gets beaten up
Nothing Hill Carnival: stabbing
Sports
Hurricane Marie in the Pacific
  • The order in which the stories were broadcasted
Hurricane Marie in the pacific

Notting Hill Carnival
Weather
Sports

  • Why you think the editors of the news programme chose these stories and put them in that order
I think they put it in this order because they are both something to beware of because dangerous things can happen out there. They put sports last because its a fun thing to talk about.

  • The news stories that appeared
Rotherham child abuse
Borris Johnson wanting to build another airport
Scotland debates why they should become Bank Of England

  • The order in which the stories were broadcast
The secretary answered their views on child abuse
The London airport plan.
Child abuse again/ Theresa has to pay compensation
Scotland debates
BBC Sports
  • Why you think the editors of the news programme chose those stories and put them in that order.
I personally think they put child abuse first to raise awareness because thousands of children are being abused and exploited.
And the least important stuff in the middle and funny news at the end which is just an update of whats going on.

  • The news stories that appeared
Weather
President Obama promised there would be justice to a man who was kidnapped
Prime minister discusses islamic threat
Parents of Aysha released from prison
The doctor with Ebola was discharged from hospital
Sports
  • The order in which the stories were broadcasted
Obama speaks about terrorists and how they won't be intimidated.
This is also linked with the Prime Minister news
Aysha's parents were released from prison

Ebola
Sports
  • Why you think the editors of the news programme chose these stories and put them in that order
I think the editor put it in that order because they are the top stories for this lunchtime and most important in the world at the moment.
They put sports last because it isn't as important as life changing news.
