Representation:
The representation of gender in Taken reinforces traditional stereotypes. Liam Neason plays a typical American action hero. He is a man stereotypically meaning he is strong and brave. He is an aggressive, intelligent and determined character. He's is the hero of this particular movie this is because his daughter goes away to Paris with her best friend and gets kidnapped. There by Liam Neason who in the film is her father uses a set of skills to find and bring her home safely. These are the typical qualities in an action movie where men are heroic and save the day. The female in this movie consists of his daughter who is shown as weak which could mean she is very vulnerable because she was kidnapped and relied on her father to save her. This is also very stereotypical because it uses European characters such as Albainians which could suggest they are bad people in this case kidnapping, human trafficking and sexual harassment. This makes Eastern European people look very intimidating and makes Europe as a whole a dangerous place. This is a very typical representation of a Hollywood movie because of the type of characters used.
